After being one of five bands representing their home country of Wales during this year’s SXSW Music in Austin, Paper Aeroplanes are back with the release of their fourth album "JOY" on April, 8th. No need to add that I've been waiting for this album with lots of impatience and it definitely worth it!
For those of you who don't know Paper Aeroplanes yet, the Welsh duo is characterized by an intoxicating dream folk music. Sarah Howells 's voice is like a unique gem, pure and full of shades at the same time, enhanced by the haunting melodies created by Richard Llewellyn's incredible guitar play.
With this new album, Paper Aeroplanes have explored new musical territories, adding touches of pop and electronic music to their musical universe, without losing the essence of what makes their sound so unique.
Paper Aeroplanes - "Guessing Game"
"JOY" is less melancholic than the previous albums and never the title of an album has been more appropriate to defines the 11 new songs proposed by Paper Aeroplanes. "JOY" sails through human relationships and love, toward the light that emerges after a period of darkness.
Paper Aeroplanes - "Books"
Your journey through "JOY" will take you toward heartbeat songs like "Guessing Game", the haunting softness of songs like "Race You Home" or "Caravan" and the bright optimism of songs like "Books" or "Joy". Each song is a short story of which you will quickly become addicted. It's hard to choose a favorite song among this album as they are all amazing, however I have a slight preference for "Caravan" and "Placebos".
