biography

Ben Williams graduated from the University of Salford in 2005 with a first class honours degree in Popular Music and Recording and has forged a career as a musician and songwriter. After leaving university Ben joined forces with Kristyna Myles and won Radio 5 Live’s Busk Idol competition which led to appearances on BBC1, ITV, Radio 2, Radio 4 and many regional radio stations including BBC Manchester, as well as being featured in The Manchester Evening News and various other publications.

Ben is a prolific songwriter and has co-written several tracks on Kristyna Myles debut album, due for release in 2014. He has also written with various artists including Beggar Joe, Jon Kenzie,  Kirsty Almeida and Emma Wells.

As a guitarist, Ben is an in demand performer for both session and live work.  He has played extensively across the UK and overseas with appearances at South by Southwest Festival in Texas, Cahors Blues Festival in France and many other venues across Europe.  Ben is experienced performing in large well known venues including Liverpool Echo Arena, The Bridgewater Hall, Shepherd’s Bush Empire and T in the Park Festival and also enjoys the more intimate venues such as The Bedford and London Jazz Cafe

Ben has also applied his tasteful style in studio sessions for Jon Kenzie, Rick Guard and Kristyna Myles amongst others, playing electric and acoustic guitars, mandolin and providing backing vocals.

In 2013, Ben released his debut EP; ‘The Balloon String EP’ and will be releasing his debut album of his own material in 2014.
